What She Wants

The halls were calm and bright
And she walked in them alone
She was quiet
If she wanted something, she wouldn’t say
Anything she needed stayed inside
She hid her opinions away
Her small voice was rarely heard
She was afraid of judgment
Of persecution
For it had happened too often before
It was what she had run away from
The group and her, were opposites
And yet they got along
And they often wondered about her
For she was like them, and yet she wasn’t
She could feel
And she was hurting
They had no hearts, yet longed for one
And she had her heart
And yet what she wanted most was to lose it…
